What albums are timeless to you?

After listening to a few songs from Matchbox Twenty’s “Yourself or Someone Like You” album recently (an album that was heavily played during my childhood) I realized that I could listen to the album in its entirety almost 13 years later and I still enjoy every track. It seems timeless. So I decided to survey Twitter asking folks what childhood albums (or albums in general) they felt were timeless to them. Here are the results:

  • @pom5 said: Chumbawumba. First cd I ever bought, still love it.
  • @danielwhicks said: I have to say, august and everything after by the counting crows is the best and most timeless album of my childhood!
  • @vanessa_ramirez said: Wallflowers Bringing Down The Horse
  • @weezer17 said: weezer blue album. Green day dookie. Jimmy eat world clarity
  • @ashleymgardner said: nickel creek “why should the fire die?” i can listen to it over and over and still love it.
  • @wlfwrose said: Dire Straits “Brothers in Arms” 23 years later and it’s still perfect. Great musicians and masterful engineering.
  • @rand21althor said: Simon & Garfunkel’s “Wednesday Morning, 3AM”, Billy Joel’s “The Stranger”, The Beatles’ “Abbey Road”, to name a few. :-D
  • @PeterChristian said: Pearl Jam’s “Ten” and Third Eye Blind’s self-titled debut round out my top three. Good question!

I am older than you by a few margin so my pick has to be ‘Dark Side of the Moon’ by Pink Floyd. If for no other reason, the production value on that album is better than a lot of the ‘STUFF’ coming out today. And it was released when Richard Nixon was President.

I loved Gun N’ Roses Appetite For Destruction when I was growing up, and to this day I can listen to it over and over again and never get tired of listening to it. Too bad G n’R sucks now since everyone’s left the band except Axl…
